Erin Jamieson fell in love with Sims due to the lack of consequences. She has always lived on the wild side, but Sims allows her to explore all possible outcomes of risky decisions that she would never make in real life. That's half the fun for them!

As an active community member and content creator for The Sims 4, I can assure you that there are few things more controversial than babies - which might explain why many are looking for baby CC (aka custom content) to to fix the problem. CC, custom content created by the community, allows you to make your game - and babies in this case - more unique.
That's right: while the baby life stage of a simulation game doesn't sound like something that would cause controversy, many still hope to see what we would call enhanced babies -- that is, babies who aren't objects. As a matter of fact,Petitions for Improved Babieshave been circling sites like Change.org, among others, and tweeting them to try to get the attention of Sim's team.
But whether by the time you're reading this they'll finally have updated babies in Sims 4 - many Simmers constantly hope for such an update - the good news is that there are still ways to make babies with the help of some of the best Sims to improve 4cc.
In this article, I'll give a brief overview of babies in The Sims 4, why you should consider CC, and how to find the best baby CC to make this life state feel more personal and realistic - and maybe even help you improve that Family game in Sims 4.
How to get babies in Sims 4
How to get pregnant in Sims 4?
Babies in The Sims 4 - at least how to have one - is very similar to having a baby in Sims 2 and Sims 3. The main way to have a baby in Sims 4 is to click on another Sim that you have a high level of romance with and select the "Try for Baby" interaction. Note that the "Woohoo" interaction will never result in a baby.
Sims will automatically find the nearest Woohoo spot to look for a baby. You can also click directly on places where a Woohoo is allowed (e.g. beds, Woohoo bushes and even the Dumpster if you have the Eco Living expansion pack) and select the "Try for Baby" option.
You will know you are successful by taking a pregnancy test. To do this, select a toilet and click on the “Take a pregnancy test” interaction. You will either get a notification or have to try again. Note that an older male Sim can get a female Sim pregnant, but older female Sims cannot get pregnant. Only adult and young adult Sims can carry a baby.
Can two female sims have a baby Sims 4?
While Sims 2 allowed same-sex relationships and Sims 3 allowed same-sex marriages, it wasn't until Sims 4 that same-sex couples could have children of their own. In fact, non-binary sims also have this option.
This option came with theSims 4 Gender-Update, which expanded the gender expression customization option. With this update, you can create a Sim and choose whether that Sim can get pregnant or not, regardless of whether they have a female or male stature. Simply switch to CAS mode, either directly or by using a dresser or mirror and opting for the "Change Sim" interaction.
In CAS, just below the life stage selector, there is a bar with a few dots. Here you can customize everything from a male or female frame to clothing preferences, how they use the toilet and whether or not they can get pregnant.
How to adopt in Sims 4?
Of course, adoption is an option for all Sims if you don't want to go through the pregnancy process. Adoption is a quick and easy process. Just find a computer or use your always-connected smartphone and select Household and Adopt.
Adoptions cost a thousand Simoleons, and you have the option to adopt a baby, toddler, or child as long as you haven't already reached your household limit of 8 Sims and/or pets (cats and dogs fill a slot just like Sims, but hamsters and fish do Not).
Why should I consider Baby CC for Sims 4?
Maybe you're not keen on custom content, or maybe you're new to Sims 4 -- or maybe both. But if you're new to Sims 4, and especially if you've played previous Sims games, you might find that some baby CC is just what you need. let me explain.
Babies are objects because unlike The Sims 3 and Sims 3, they are attached to their bassinet forever. Interactions are limited and babies in Sims 4 are chosen randomly. Rather than their appearance really reflecting genetics, they will have one of a few skin tones and be placed in one of a few base game baskets.
Not only that, although there are interactions alongside feeding and changing baby's diaper, many feel there isn't enough for a Sims 4 baby to truly feel like part of a family.
If you're not on the console (unfortunately, Sims 4 console player custom content isn't available yet) and you have enough storage space, Sims 4 Baby cc can add more customization, both from an aesthetic point of view and even more interactions so equip babies make them feel like real Sims - regardless of whether the team updates them or not.
How to find the best Sims 4 Baby CC?
I'll admit it: Finding the best Sims 4 Baby CC can be a challenge. Not only are there (understandably) far fewer options for custom content for babies compared to other life stages, but it can also be difficult to find cc that is safe and of the quality you want.
The good news is that there's some great custom content out there that can really improve babies in Sims 4. Individual content creators' Patreon pages (most custom content releases for free a few weeks after debut), The Sims Resource, Mod The Sims, and occasionally other channels like Pinterest and Tumblr can link you to interesting custom content for babies.
But today I'm going to share with you my top recommendations for the best CCs to download for babies in Sims 4 - from appearance changes to nursery accessories to gameplay script mods.
Without further ado, here are my top picks.
Script mods change or add to your gameplay. These are great options as long as your computer can handle them. You should download script mods the same way you download any other Sims 4 custom content - place package files (unzipped) in your mods folder under your Sims 4 folder.
Better Babies & Toddlers Mod von Cathedral
If you don't download anything else I recommend this as the best baby mod for Sims 4. This mod goes beyond another baby cc by really adding realism and gameplay for sims taking care of a baby. As a family gamer, I like how it makes Sims 4 Babies more interactive. Note that you cannot use this mod with mods that alter the base game's bassinet - but it is compatible with the base game. I will note that most of this mod is related to being a parent.
The mod adds a new function menu for interactions. New interactions include: complaining about fatigue; talk about returning to work; talk about babies; share self-care tips with new parents; promote breastfeeding; discuss the first Christmas; discuss diaper brands and complain about baby teething. Each interaction also comes with corresponding moodlets, with the option to work with other custom content moodlets (linked on the mod page).
By interacting with your baby, you will also get new unique moods with unique descriptions like "sweet moment", "a nice lullaby" and many more. In addition, you will have the opportunity to read a parenting magazine, and also new interactions for toddlers.Download here.
Casual baby mod by egureh
If you try the 100 babies challenge - or just find your Sims with a full household - taking care of a baby can be a challenge. And while you shouldn't technically be using mods during something like the 100 baby challenge, there's no judgment from me if you do. While I personally enjoy challenges in my Sims 4 game, I might also find this mod handy if you're trying to make a machinima, gaming, or just focusing on other Sims.
This simple mod slows down your baby's needs so you can spend time with other Sims around the house and/or other chores. The tooth decay requirement is halved, so you only have to take care of your baby's needs every other day. There's even an option for a needless decay - if you really don't want to bother with your baby's hunger and bladder needs.
Ghosts Can Have Babies Mod by PolarBearSims
If you're a fan of both the family game and the supernatural game, brace yourself: you can have a ghost family with this mod by PolarBearSims, a creator I know mostly for theirsGot some personality mod, which can be downloaded almost two million times.
This talent modder brings some baby care to a ghost's experience. I've always found it strange that ghosts in Sims 4 can have romantic relationships and even get married but can't have babies and this mod fixes that. Note that this doesn't allow your ghosts to have ghost babies. Rather, this mod simply unlocks the "Try for Baby" interaction for ghosts. Babies are born as normal babies in Sims 4.
Make sure you download the latest version of the mod to ensure it works. This mod, like the previous mods, is compatible with the base game.Download here.
Baby Without Crib by Kiolometro
Tired of your baby tied to his crib? This mod by Kiolometro gives your baby a little more freedom, if only visually. Essentially, it replaces the standard cradle, freeing a Sims 4 baby to be placed on any flat surface. A popular way to use this mod is to pair it with custom cribs and beds - which is why it can actually be incredibly useful. Say goodbye to the blah base game bassinet and free your baby for a more unique and personalized option.Download here.
Build/buy CAS and CC
Creating a Sim and creating/purchasing custom content adds aesthetically pleasing updates to your game, but in the case of Baby CC, it really helps address the lack of personalization for Sims 4 babies. While they're just superficial additions, I like cc for nurseries and even onesies to make the stories I want.
Little Lamb default skins and outfits by Martine
This option replaces both the default skins and baby outfits. All three standard skin tones are replaced, as are new baby outfits that feature green, pink, and blue stripes paired with gray pants. I love that the cc also comes with a PSD file. This unique file allows for better customization, with options to swap out different eye colors with different skins, or even create your own defaults to replace if you know your way around. This mod also works with the onesies from the Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack.Download here.
Mcrudd's Mixed Baby Outfit Set
From brightly colored purple rompers to a pair of printed white ones, these baby outfits offer a little personalization and interest beyond your defaults. I love the classic alien and llama nods for an iconic look for the franchise's mainstays.Download here.
Mcrudds Bear Baby Outfit Set
These onesies are cute and simple replacements for the standard onesies that don't differ too much from the standard base game. Pink is automatically selected for females, blue for males, and green for alien babies.Download here.
Mcrudd's incredible baby outfit set
My final pick for onesies from Mcrudd on Sims Resource is this set featuring the popular Incredibles logo and iconic red hue. It also goes with an eye mask. Note that the baby's eyes are always light blue.Download here.
Nurseries and baby rooms
Currently there are few nursery items in Sims 4 no matter what packs you have. While there are ways to jazz up a child's room using some items that came with Sims 4 Toddler Stuff, there's a lot to be desired. The good news is that there are some quality nursery furniture and sets available on The Sims Resource, both more Maxis Match and Alpha CC. There are 29 complete sets to choose from in total, but here are a few of my favorites.
Severinka's lily nursery
This beautifully designed Sims 4 kids room set includes 9 matching maxi items: an alcove, an alcove bumper, a decorative crib (if you don't have the mod), cushions, a lounge chair, a footstool, a floor lamp and cabinets for medium and short wall heights. The color patterns lean towards soft pastels and feature an appealing aesthetic that suits most traditional and contemporary homes.Download here.
The same talented creator delivers another one of my favorite Sims 4 Kindergarten sets, although this set will likely appeal to fans of more realistic Alpha CC games. The clean style is modern yet feels cozy, with 10 objects: a decorative nativity scene, pennants, a three-pattern dresser, a toy horse, posters, a toy basket and a paper box. I especially love the animal posters and the Scandinavian style.Download here.
Acnassy Nursery von JomSims
This whimsical Maxis Match nursery can be used with the baby no crib mod (shown above) and comes in purple, pink, blue and neutral tones. The 11-piece set includes a crib, area rugs, loveseat, decorative pillows, rocking chair, white wall, decorative changing table, toy chest, curtains and wall art. I especially like the koala bear pictures and the ethereal curtains.Download here.
This might be my favorite nursery for Sims 4 babies if I had to pick just one. Not only have I used it before in my own build, but it's just charming and unique - yet doesn't feel out of place for a variety of styles. The items are available in the variants green, orange, pink and blue. The 11-piece set includes a crib, bumper, baby blanket, canopy, baby mobile, zebra pillow, nursing chair, leg rest, throw blanket, dresser and changing mat.Download here.

frequently asked Questions
Question: How long do babies stay babies in Sims 4?
Answers:Babies stay in the life stage for anywhere from 1.5 to 12 days, depending on how long a lifespan you set for your Sims. With a short lifespan, the baby phase is only a day and a half. That increases to three days for a normal lifespan and twelve for a long lifespan.
Question: Is it possible to accidentally have a baby in Sims 4?
Answers:In an unmodded Sims 4 game, you must be actively trying to have a baby, although mods, including MCCC (Master Controller Command Center), can allow your Sims to search for a baby on their own; You can also adjust the percentage chance of being successful. There are also mods that allow unwanted pregnancies.
Sims 4 may still need some tweaking for family play - which is in high demand in 2021 - but the good news is that a robust modding and CC community can really help personalize your game and fill some of those gaps, like this one Baby CC shows .
